Tannery: Conceria 800
Share
Conceria 800 was born in Italy in the late 70’s following the purchase of the old “Tre Chiodi” tannery, a name known for top quality leather goods and traditional vegetable tanning. Even today they tan their leathers using the old system of “Concia In Fossa” (pit tanning), a process that maintains the typical characteristics of artisanal “Vacchetta”.
We chose to have our leathers made at the Conceria 800 Tannery not only for the fine quality leathers but also their unique characteristic. Every piece of leather is prepared using natural vegetable extracts from a variety of wood, bark, fruit, roots and leaves. Environmentally friendly with no harsh chemicals, it’s a slow process taking up to six months from start to finish. The end result is a beautiful rich leather made to last a lifetime, a perfect match for our products.
We took a look inside the tannery, to meet the makers and learn more about the process of vegetable tanning. (Photos by Conceria 800)
